Stephanie Hoffman MS, PT

Aside from the many roles Stephanie Hoffman plays: Mother, Wife, Surfer, Physical Therapist, and Humanitarian, her recent role as a Hospice volunteer has provoked many of the ideas in her first fiction novel; Kōkua.

“I am passionate about healing and mitigating suffering,

in addition to inspiring others to not lose hope.”

Steph graduated from San Diego State University with her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Athletic Training. She worked as an EMT, Athletic Trainer, Waterski and Kayak Instructor, PT Aide and Fitness Instructor in her early careers. She then moved on to Grad. School, getting her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami.

With extensive experience in the field of Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, Steph currently has a private practice in La Jolla Shores, California. Over thirty-five years in medicine has inspired her to educate others with new ways of looking at disease and injury, primarily with tolerance, compassion and understanding.

Numerous surf trips abroad have presented Steph with extraordinary glimpses of those in need and the opportunity to share her skills in support of others. “It’s not just a surf trip…” She is known for saying. “Let’s see where we might be able to help.”

From donating essentials in Mainland Mexico, Dominican Republic, Fiji, and Indonesia, to starting a school in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti―helping to rebuild the lives of children who lost family members in the 2010 Haiti earthquake―her experiences have culminated in respect and tolerance for those outside of local boundaries, pressing our awareness of those in need both nationally and globally.

“To the world you may be one person;

but to one person you may be the world.” - Dr. Seuss

One of Steph’s favorite sayings from her neighbor, Ted Geisel.

Proceeds from this book will help fund Institut Edeline in Beudet, Haiti.
